Barry Stephen Fisher, age 71, of Iron Station, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Barry was known as an easy going man and a peacemaker by his family. He just couldn't say No to his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Barry was a very loving man who loved his wife dearly, his children greatly and his grandchildren mostly. A NASCAR fan, Barry's favorite driver was Earnhardt, Sr. He also loved his Carolina Panthers and UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels. Barry served Honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He is a man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Those left behind to carry on Barry’s memories and legacy are his wife of 43 years, Gloria Jones Fisher of the home; two daughters and sons in law: Lisa and Brad Blackwell of Fair Play, South Carolina, Carrie and Ricky Dale Jenkins of Lincolnton, North Carolina; five brothers and sisters in law: Tony and Frieda Fisher of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Randy and Pam Fisher of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Dick Fisher of Gastonia, North Carolina, Todd and Liz Fisher of Lincolnton, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Jessica Blackwell, Jayda Ann Gamber and Jordan Jenkins.
Barry was the son of the late Oscar Brown Fisher and Lois Snead Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his Aunt Ruth Snead and sister in law Nancy Fisher (wife of Dick Fisher).
A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday ~ November 8, 2018 at Hill's Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Sean Turner to deliver words of comfort and hope to Barry’s family and friends. Active pallbearer’s are Tony Fisher, Randy Fisher, Dick Fisher, Todd Fisher, Brad Blackwell and Ricky Dale Jenkins. Graveside and committal service with Military Honors Accorded by the United States Army and Gaston Honor Guard will follow in the Hill's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 12:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.
