Walter W. Travis, Sr.,86, a Stamford resident for 45 years, passed away on February 4, 2010 at Greenwich Hospital. Born January 7, 1924 in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Viola Travis. Walt was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater in an Anti- Aircraft Artillery unit. He worked as a machine setter for 40 years at Empire Brush in Port Chester , NY . He also worked for many years as a bartender at Latella’a White Way in Port Chester, NY. He is survived by is wife of 61 years, Mary, of Stamford; three sons, Kenneth and Walter, Jr. of Stamford and Donald and his wife Robin of Bethel, CT; grandchildren Kevin Olsen and his wife Casey of Woodbury, CT, Jason Travis, of Westchester, PA, Daniel Travis of Stamford, Jeffrey Travis of Brookline, MA, Justin Travis of Queens, NY. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Jane and Mable. Friends may call at the Bouton and Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St, Stamford on Monday February 8, 2010 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February, 9, 2010 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
