Virginia graduated from Stamford High School Class of 1939, and began her career at Yale & Towne, where she met the love of her life, Thomas A. Morris. She later worked for Nestle Corp. where she took great pride in transcribing code for the company’s president. Tom’s career led the family to live in St. Louis, Chicago, Stamford, and Wingate, NC before relocating to Darien, CT in 1994 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Virginia loved to prepare wonderful meals for her family, she was an avid reader, enjoyed discussing current events and politics as well as playing bingo, word games and trivial pursuit with her friends at Brighton. Her greatest pride and joy were her children and their families.
Virginia is survived by her three children, Barbara Gerardi and her husband Dennis, of Laguna Nigel, CA, Art Morris and his wife Barbara of Darien, CT, and Jackie Ryan and her husband Mark of Stamford, CT. Five grandchildren, Beth Gerardi Voight, Chris Gerardi, Tom Morris, Kim Morris and Donal Ryan and three great grandchildren, Luke Voight, Tanner Voight and Olivia Gerardi. She is also survived by her brothers Edward Mailhot of Stamford, CT and Tom Mailhot of Napa, CA. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Tom Morris, a brother, Charlie Mailhot, and two sisters Jackie Waterbury and Helen Verderosa.
Visiting hours are from 4PM to 7PM, Tuesday February 11, 2014 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Darien, CT. Wednesday February 12, at 10:30AM and burial following at St. John’s Cemetery - 35 Camp Ave. Darien, CT.
