A lifelong resident of Stamford, he graduated from Stamford High in 1944 where he played varsity baseball. After graduation, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII where he was based in Corpus Christi, TX as a firefighter aiding crash victims.
Following his discharge from the navy, he met Eleanor Sitzman of Pittsfield, MA to whom he was married for 50 years. They raised 3 sons Thomas III (Enid), Robert (Pamela), and Gary (Kelly) and started a reputable painting and contracting business which has been operating for 70 years and 3 generations.
Tom was a family man with a laid-back disposition who was a talented artist and woodworker. He enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes and was an avid fan of 1940's big band music, especially Frank Sinatra. He loved boating on Long Island Sound with family and watching sports on TV.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, brother (John) and sister (Jean). He is survived by his three sons, five grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family is honoring Tom's wishes for cremation and a private memorial service.
