Mr. Schwartz, a retired attorney who practiced in Stamford, CT for more than 54 years, died on August 6, 2017 at the age 84.
A native of Stamford, Ron was born on February 7, 1933. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1956; was admitted to the United States Federal District Court, 1957; the United States Federal Court of Appeals in New York, second Circuit, 1962; and the United States Supreme Court, 1963.
Mr. Schwartz was formerly a partner in the Stamford Law Firm of Macrides, Zezima and Schwartz. He was also former Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Stamford from 1966-1979.
His paralegal, Claudia J. Uva, loyally and devotedly served with Ron for 45 years.
He is the son of the late Deputy Sheriff Paul Schwartz and the late Kathlyn Satin Schwartz, both of Stamford. He was predeceased by his partner Dallas Wooten and he was also predeceased by his sister Marian Schwartz Heidecorn. Ron is survived by brother-in-law Monroe Heidecorn, nieces Gail Kedrus and Debra Goldman, his nephew David Heidecorn, and their children Joshua, Nadine, Brooke, Eric, Keith and Katie.
He was educated in the Stamford Public School System; attended Belltown School, Eastern Military Academy; graduated from St. Luke’s School, 1949. He went on to received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duke University, 1953; received his Juris Doctor Degree from Duke University School of Law, 1956; former President of the Duke University Alumni Association of Fairfield County; and former member of Duke University Alumni Advisory Admissions Committee.
Mr. Schwartz served as President of the Stamford Young Republican Club, Editor of the State Young Republican Newspaper; served as Chairman of the 1963 Connecticut State Young Republican Convention; President of the Stamford Board of Representatives, 1964-65; Minority Leader of the Stamford Board of Representatives, 1963-64; Member of the Zoning Board of Stamford, 1965-66; member of the Stamford and Connecticut Bar Associations; member of Zeta Beta Tau social fraternity; and member of the Phi Delta Phi, national professional legal fraternity.
He has traveled the world extensively, having visited more than 70 different countries.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at 3 pm. Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Rd. Stamford.
