Roger A. Petrone Sr

He was born in Stamford, Conn., September 13, 1943, to the late Mary DeRosa Petrone and Albert Petrone.

Roger graduated from Stamford High School in 1961 and Iona College. He proudly served in the United States Navy, joined the Stamford Police Department in 1965 and retired as a Sergeant after a 37 year career. Roger and his family were well known in the Springdale area as proprietors of the "Pet N' Poodle" pet shop. He was a longtime Master Mason, Past Master of Union Lodge #5 and a member of Ivanhoe Lodge #107. He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba, good food, and had a fondness for motorcycles. Shortly before his retirement, Roger set out on the open roads with his motorcycle, completing a roundtrip adventure from Connecticut to Alaska. Roger is survived by his wife, Joan Meyer Petrone of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two sons, Roger A. Petrone, Jr. of Stamford, Conn., and Robert A. Petrone of Darien, Conn.; brother, Donald Petrone (Doris) of Chapin, SC; three granddaughters, Sydney, Kaia, and Kelcie Petrone, and stepchildren Kristen Cannon and Jeffrey Meyer.

A memorial service will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, Conn.
