Patricia Murphy Ayres, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died June 6, 2017, at Regional Hospice of Danbury. Born Patricia Isabel Murphy to parents Sherman and Mildred Murphy on March 20, 1929, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert F. Ayres. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Elias, Pamela Vieser, Stephanie Dumas and Stephanie’s husband Jeffrey Dumas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christopher Elias and his wife Alexa Delwiche, Megan Collins, Rebecca Elias, Catherine Elias, Jessica Vieser, Brittney Dumas, Leah Kate Dumas, and Kyleigh Dumas, and two great grandchildren Coleman Elias and Gavin Dumas.
Patricia graduated from Stamford High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle. She was a former school teacher in Stamford at Dolan and Turn of River Middle Schools. Patricia was a long-time parishioner of St. Leo Church in Stamford. She was very active in the Stamford Women’s Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. Patricia also enjoyed a life pursuing genealogy studies, playing the piano, travel with her husband Al, gardening, fitness classes, theatre and musical concerts. She enjoyed following the activities and careers of her grandchildren and adored her two great grandsons.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 2pm-6pm at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Rd on Monday, June 12th, 2017 at 10:30 AM.
