He was born on November 15, 1968 to Ottavio and Toni Mallozzi. He is loved and missed by his family, many friends, and clients from across the metropolitan area, and extending out to the mid-Atlantic and southern states.
Greg grew up in New Canaan. As a young boy, he would always be riding his bike, doing wheelies on the lawn, and jumping ramps of his own construction. In the winter, he exchanged his bike for a snowmobile, taking up the challenge of driving across the snowy backyard and beyond. His zest for life was evident.
At New Canaan High School he was part of the Track Team — a fact his family never knew until they saw his picture and name in the local paper.
Greg loved boats, and his great interest in boating took him out on the water and saw him participating in the Newport Bermuda race, as well as bringing a motor yacht from Florida to Connecticut along the intricate pathways of intracoastal waterway.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Greg began with small Matchbox cars and graduated to being a fan of NASCAR races and vehicles. He even got behind the wheel at the Sebring Racetrack in Florida. Autos became his business, buying and selling cars at auction and providing custom tinting and detailing. He took great pride in his company, WheelsFx of Stamford.
Greg's companionship with his beagles mirrored his own virtues—loyal, kind, sincere, generous, brave, open-minded, and respectful. While occasional impatience surfaced, his character was underscored by his role in New York's 9/11 Recovery Operation, where he drove dump trucks in the momentous task of clearing debris from the disaster site.
In recent years diabetes took its toll on Greg. He worked hard to make a comeback and kept moving forward with a positive attitude through it all. In the end, God called for Greg and he left us peacefully at home, surrounded by the loving presence of his brothers.
Greg was proud of his role as godfather to his nieces Lisa and Sofia. He will be missed by his niece Marina and nephews Joseph and Michael Mallozzi.
Gregory is pre-deceased by his grandparents, his sister Lisa (1998), his nephew Nico (2018) and his uncle Jim (2018). In addition to those mentioned above, he is survived by his parents Otto and Toni Mallozzi, his brother Antony (Kristin), his brother Joseph (Mimma), along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering will be held for Gregory at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Stamford on Thursday August 31, from 4 to 8 PM. A private entombment will take place on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to East Coast Beagle Rescue https:// ecbr.carrd.co/ or https://bfp.org/donate/ in Greg’s name.
