Matthew Klein - Best friend and beloved husband of Debra Adler-Klein for 40 years, passed away unexpectedly on December 3rd in Pound Ridge, NY at the age of 62. Matthew was born on February 2, 1955, the son of Marion Klein and the late Howard Klein. He grew up in Port Washington, NY and at the age of 16 met Debbie and their romance began. Their 46 year love story was filled with love and laughter, mutual respect and support for each other and their wonderful family, including the late Mike and Yetta Adler, who he nicknamed the Captain and the Queen. Matthew graduated from Columbia University in 1977, Fordham Law School in 1981 and was a practicing real estate attorney in New York, NY and in Stamford, CT. He was always there for his family and friends and helped more people than we could ever count with his generosity, knowledge and kindness. More than anything, Matthew loved spending time with his family, rooting for the Yankees, skiing, sailing, barbequing for the whole family on a Sunday afternoon and walking and caring for his dogs.
Matthew is survived by his beloved wife Debbie and their children Josh, Rachel, and Samantha, daughter-in-law Morgan and future son-in-law Thomas. He cared so deeply and was so proud of each of his children. Matthew was the most devoted grandfather to his best buddy Zachary and baby Charlotte, with whom he created incredible memories they will cherish for a lifetime. He will be forever treasured by his mother Marion, brother Josh, sister-in-law Bea, sister Amanda, his sisters and brothers in law Judi and Lenny, Steve and Jill, Honni and Sylvan and his 22 nieces and nephews, and 10 grand nieces and nephews who all loved him so much. He was dedicated to his family and friends and an active member of Temple Beth El's Board of Trustees and Men's Club. He leaves behind an enduring legacy remembered for his strength, character, caring, love, friendship, intelligence and sharp wit by the many people his life touched.
Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth El in Stamford, CT on Thursday, December 7th at 10am. Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Temple Beth El Matthew Klein Memorial Fund for the maintenance and enhancement of the Sanctuary Garden.
