Born in Mineola, New York, the daughter of Randolph and Lillian Walden Lyon, Mary graduated from Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, MA and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY from which she received a nursing degree. She was employed as a visiting nurse at the Westchester County Visiting Nurse
Service and greatly enjoyed a second career as an RN at the Pediatric Center in Stamford, CT.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, positive outlook on life, and commitment to family and friends. She was an avid dog lover, enjoyed gardening, walking, and knitting. She was a member of the Saint Francis Episcopal Church in North Stamford where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, participating in the Prayer Shawl group, and bible studies.
She is survived by her sons Peter and Scott, her grandchildren Molly, Tyler, Evan, and Andrew, and her great grandchildren Ben, Lucy, and Hazel. She was predeceased by her husband Anderson Scott Holton, daughter Elizabeth Holton, and brother Wayne Lyon.
Friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate her life at Saint Francis Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 22 at noon at 503 Old Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT. A reception will immediately follow at La Vista Restaurant, 355 Smith Ridge Rd, South Salem, NY.
