Marie Vincenza Durante

It is with deep sorrow that we announced the death of our mother Marie Vincenza (Jacobellis) Durante, 102, who left us on the feast of St. Joseph, March 19th, 2025 after a long and beautifully lived life. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most offering wisdom and love. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Vincent, her brother Benedict Jacobellis, her father and mother, Nicola and Carmela (Campanelli), and leaves behind her children, Robert and Margaret Anne Denninger and her husband Bill, grandson Stephen and his wife Kerri Durante, and a great granddaughter, Rebecca Durante.

A communicant of St. Francis of Assisi parish, Brooklyn, NY, Marie was born in Park Slope and attended P.S. 92, Erasmus Hall high school, and Brooklyn Business Institute. Most recently, she was a Buyer Bookkeeper at Abraham and Straus department store. Throughout her life, she was an excellent seamstress and baker, and fastidious at needle works.

To celebrate her life, there will be a viewing at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM, and a funeral mass Wednesday March 26th, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Leo RC Church, 24 Roxbury Rd, both in Stamford. Internment following the service will be at Green-Wood Cemetery, Fifth Avenue at 25th St., Brooklyn, New York.
