He was born on November 9, 1924 in New York City to Catherine Brady Lutz and Charles Lutz. He was one of 11 children.
Leonard joined the 8th Airforce during World War II and while stationed in England and flew missions over Germany. He then proudly became a NYC Fireman for 33 years serving in Engine 71 in the Bronx. He married Mary Ryan in 1949 in NYC and they had two children, Linda and Charles. (Deceased). Mary and Leonard would have celebrated their 69th Anniversary on May 28.
Leonard is survived by his beloved wife Mary, daughter Linda, son in law Thomas, grandson Ryan, two brothers, Richard and Thomas, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT on Monday, May 21, from 3-7 pm and Tuesday, May 22, from 3-7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 10 am at St. Leo Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT.
