Born in Stamford, CT, she is the daughter of Barbara M. Conklin (Agoni) and Donald Conklin. Laura-Jean is a graduate of Rippowam High School in Stamford. She was employed at Cummings & Lockwood, General Electric, MetLife, and Sikorski Helicopter Support, all in Fairfield County. Laura-Jean also worked at Pellicci’s and 19th Hole in Stamford, and Benny's in Darien, for many years.
Always willing to help others, Laura-Jean had a heart of gold. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and contagious laugh. She loved the holidays and decorated for them with great spirit. LJ loved the beach and her favorite shows. She was also a certified aerobics instructor during the short time she lived in Tampa, Florida.
She is survived by her beloved life partner, Joseph Uzarski in Bridgeport, her mother Barbara M. Conklin in Florida, and her brother Anthony A. Agoni in California. She will be greatly missed by all her friends, especially her lifelong friend Patty Darling, her “foster brother” Doug Backman, and of course Joseph’s wonderful mother, Willa Uzarski. All of us were deeply touched by Joseph’s loving care for her during her long illness.
Friends are invited to a gathering of friends and funeral service starting at 11:00am this Friday, September 8th. It will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street in Stamford, CT . After the viewing and 12:30pm Catholic service at the funeral home, guests will travel in procession to the Interment at Fairfield Memorial Park on Oaklawn Avenue, where Laura-Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved grandmother, Lucy Agoni.
