Born in Matanzas, Cuba on August 28th, 1925, she was the daughter of Alfonso and Dulce Maria Vega.
A Cuban exile who arrived in the United States in 1961, she had much love and gratitude for the great country that welcomed her and her family, all the while never forgetting, and often pining for, her homeland of Cuba.
Herminia was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was a devout Roman Catholic, whose religion was of utmost importance to her. God was the love of her life, followed very closely by her husband, Ramon. They are finally reunited, and sit together in heaven today.
Herminia was predeceased by her parents, and her devoted husband, Deacon Ramon Isidro, as well as her two best friends: her cousin, Eva Guerra and her lifelong friend, Marina Arango.
Herminia is survived by her daughters, Miriam Arango LaBella and her husband, Peter LaBella, Teresita Isidro and her partner, Francis Gray, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Laurence Arango, Fernando Arango and his wife, Kate Arango, Adrian Arango and his wife, Jennifer Arango and Siegfried Isidro-Cloudas and his partner, Li Luvice. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Fernando Jose Arango, Alessia Maria Arango and their mother, Alessandra Martinet, and Daniel Cuqui Arango, and their grandfather, Laurentino Arango.
Herminia is survived by many family members on the Isidro and Vega sides of the family, who will remember her as the matriarch. She will be missed by her Our Lady of Montserrat Church family, who so lovingly supported her with prayers in her last years.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Montserrat Church located at 1 Saint Benedict Circle, Stamford, CT on Monday, September 30th, 2024 at 10 AM. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery located in Darien, CT.
We sincerely thank everyone who loved and cared for Herminia during her last years. Special thanks to her nurse, Marie and the staff of Cassena Care of Stamford.
