Henry (Bud) Warner, age 82, longtime resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Veterans Hospital in West Haven, CT on Friday July, 11, 2014 surrounded by his family. Bud was born on September 18, 1931 in Stamford, CT. Son of Harry and Elizabeth (Cramer) Warner. He is survived by his children Sharon Sarantos and her husband Peter, Donna Parent and Ralph Parillo and grandchildren, Danielle Sarantos, Jason Parent and his wife Kristen, Peter Sarantos and wife Melanie, Scott Parent, Patricia Sarantos and Nicholas Sarantos and his two great grandchildren Maxim Parent and Jadia Sarantos. He was employed at Sears & Roebucks, Wises Paint and was self employed as a Painting Contractor for many years. He was drafted in 1952 and faithfully served his country. He was deployed to and served in the Korean War. As staff sergeant, Bud was assigned to the 45th infantry division, 65th Regiment, Mortar Squad. While serving his country, he earned the Korean War Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. He remained in Korea until the end of his tour when he then received an Honorable Discharge. He was a charter member of the VFW Post 9617 of Stamford where he was very active. He was the chairman of the Poppy Committee, Volunteer for Toys for Tots and many years enjoyed playing Santa for the Springdale Tree Lighting. Friends may call on Monday, July 14, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home on Summer Street in Stamford. A memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at 10:00, burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be made to The Poppy Organization, which donates funds for disabled, sick and needy veterans and their families or to the VFW Post 9617 in Stamford.
