Harold L Fink

Fink, Harold Lawrence (Hank) of Stamford, CT died peacefully on April 20, 2012 at Hospice By the Sea in Boca Raton, FL after a brief illness. Born April 4, 1925 in Duluth, MN, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva Oreckovsky Finkelstein. He was 87. Hank proudly served his country as an aviation radioman in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1946. After service, he attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business where he graduated in the shortest period of time in the university’s history. During his career, he held various executive positions in the apparel and textile industry, most notably as president of Duplex International, a division of Reeves Brothers and as the owner of Hank Fink, Inc., manufacturer of knitted textiles for women’s apparel based in Kings Mountain, NC. He was a member of the American Arbitration Association, a Meals-on-Wheels fundraiser and kitchen worker and President of UJA of Aurora, IL. In his youth he was a tournament tennis player---his highest distinction being that of Minnesota Junior Champion. He was a member of Rockrimmon Country Club for 41 years where he was an avid golfer and served on the Board of Directors. In recent years, he was a competitive bridge player. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Lois Franch Fink; three brothers, Robert Finkelstein, Stanley Fink and Donald Fink, and two sisters, Annette Feivish and Joan Rosenthal. He was the proud father of 5 children; Martha Kahn of Encinitas, CA Scott Fink (Kathy Klein) of Orinda, CA, Debra Tomsky (John) and Nancy Benjamin (Brad) of Stamford, CT and Robert Fink of New York City, as well as 7 grandchildren, Michael Tomsky (Rachel), Leah Kahn, Lindsay Fink Sweetnam (Dan), Rebecca Tomsky, Anna Fink, Matthew Benjamin and Alexander Benjamin and one great grand son, Adam Harry Tomsky, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday April 23rd at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road in Stamford. The family will observe shiva at the home of Nancy and Brad Benjamin, 56 North Lake Drive in Stamford through Wednesday evening from 6:30-9:00 PM with services at 7:00 PM.
