Elizabeth Scordamaglia (Bettina, Betty), 90, formerly of Manhattan and recently of Wilton, CT died peacefully at Norwalk Hospital on August 31st in the presence of her loving cousins and caregivers, Lois Benfield and Kathy McLean.
Born July 27, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosina (Costantino) Scordamaglia.
Betty graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and studied at Fordham University. She worked as an executive secretary in major advertising firms before being hired to work at CBS in 1974. She was a story editor for 60 Minutes and eventually became an associate producer working with many of the legendary journalists at 60 Minutes. She retired after 17 years with the company. She then became a licensed real estate sales associate with Corcoran Real Estate and Nest Seekers in Manhattan.
She volunteered for several years at the Center for Hearing and Communications in NYC serving on their board as well.
Betty lived most of her adult life in Manhattan before moving to the Greens at Cannondale in Wilton, CT in 2021. She was devoted to her family and many friends and loved traveling, eating at the finest restaurants, playing backgammon, watching the Mets on TV and going to the theater and MOMA. She was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Scordamaglia, Sally (Bastile) Scordamaglia and her brother Louis Scordamaglia. She is survived by her beloved Scordamaglia family cousins, nieces and nephews.
