David James Sturtevant, 57, of Norwalk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Carole, his sister Doris (Tucciarone), her husband Luigi, niece Megan, nephew Michael, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
David, born at Norwalk Hospital, August 22, 1962, grew up in Stamford, Fairfield, and lastly Norwalk where he graduated from Brien McMahon High School. David enjoyed music, sports, and travel. He worked at times as a DJ in local clubs. An avid sports fan he attended many sporting events, including his favorite the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, scuba diving, and jet skiing. David had an earlier career in corporate travel, booking famous clients from Columbia Artist Management in NYC. This fueled another passion, world travel. He enjoyed the perks of being a travel agent visiting many locations around the world; a few of his favorite places were Australia, Hawaii, and Paris. David also loved animals, especially his sweet Shiba Inu, Simba. About 25 years ago, he found his passion for hair and became a hairstylist and colorist. In 2012, David opened his own business, Indigo Hair Spa, in downtown Stamford. David continued to see clients until his final weeks, always happy to collaborate on new color or styles. David was one of a kind and will be remembered fondly for his vibrant energy, bright smile, and unforgettable laugh.
Calling hours will be on Friday, Nov. 8th, from 4-8 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 11 AM at Bethany Church, 2 Scofieldtown Rd. Stamford, CT with burial to follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery.
