Clare was a graduate of Hunter College. She worked at Eastman Kodak, Fortune magazine, and as a literature instructor at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. She worked for many years as a Stamford real estate broker.
An active member of the community, Clare served on the Stamford Board of Education and volunteered in the Stamford Downtown Special Services District. She was a long term member of the Emmaus Community at St. Maurice church, the White Plains Ski Club, and the Long Ridge Swim and Tennis Club. She was one of the founding members of the Lake George Camping Association and enjoyed the Good Old Girls Tennis and Paddle Tennis Club.
Clare was an avid sports enthusiast; enjoying tennis, paddle tennis, skiing, swimming, and synchronized swimming. She pursued many of these activities into her 80s. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing games, and researching genealogy.
She passed away peacefully at home with her family on April 18, 2013. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Tasch. She is survived by her husband James Duffy, her son Mark Duffy and his wife Jean, her daughter Kim Gill and her husband Joe, and four grandchildren Karen and Kate Duffy and Laura and James Gill.
A wake will be held on Wednesday May 22, from 4-8 PM at Leo P. Gallagher and Son funeral home at 2900 Summer St, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 23, at 10 AM at St. Maurice Catholic Church at 358 Glenbrook Rd, Stamford, CT. Burial will follow at a future date.
