Jean J. Cunningham, of Greenwich, CT and Bayonet Point, FL, died of natural causes at Jennifer Gardens in Port Richey, FL on November 26 , 2010. She was 88 years old. Prior to her retirement Jean was a lifetime resident of Greenwich. She was born in Port Chester, NY on June 6, 1922 to Marie Wettering Jenkins and Roy Jenkins. Raised in Byram, she attended New Lebanon School and Greenwich High School where she served as Class President. Jean was very active in sports in high school where she met her late husband, Joseph F. Cunningham. They married in January of 1942 while Joe was serving in the US Army/Air Force. During Joe’s time in the service they lived in Utah, Nevada and California and happily returned to Greenwich in 1946, where they resided until 2002. Jean spent her career as a member of the administrative staff at the North Street School. She was truly devoted to the school and looked forward to being there every day for almost thirty years. Upon retirement, they moved to Bayonet Point, Florida. Jean was a lifetime sports enthusiast and won several golf club championships at The Milbrook Club, The Bruce Golf Club and the Beacon Woods Golf Club in Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years and is survived by her daughter, Cheryl C. Feldman; her grandson Jared C. Feldman and his wife, Sara; and her great-grandchild Samantha Eleanor Feldman. Jean will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery next to her husband and her mother. The family would like to thank the staff of Jennifer Gardens and HPH Hospice for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean’s memory may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church 469 North Street on Saturday December 4, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery Greenwich, CT.
