Bernice M Griffin

Bernice Cummings Griffin, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was born on July 9, 1930 in Portchester, NY. She is the daughter of the late Leroy and Harriet Coleman. Bernice worked and retired from the Stamford Public Housing Authority in Stamford, Connecticut after 18 years of service. Bernice was predeceased by husbands, Frederick E. Griffin “POPS” of Portchester, NY and Freddie H Cummings of Hardeeville, SC, and one son Samuel Griffin. Surviving are her sisters: Mildred Coleman and Elizabeth White both of Stamford, CT, and Isabelle Harris of New Haven CT; sons and daughters; Frederick Griffin (Edis), Gregory Griffin, Paul Griffin, Jerry Dianis (Judith), Curtis Thompson, Michael Thompson, Coleman Cummings (Christine), Freddie Cummings (Angela), Dane Denis, Charlene Blackwell, and Patricia Rivers; 18 grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM followed by a service of celebration ‘til 12 noon at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home - 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905. Interment will follow at Greenwood-Union Cemetery, 215 North Street Rye, NY 10580.
