Bernard Dominique was born to Agnita Simpson and McPhield Dominique on December 20, 1935. Bernard was born and raised in Roseau Dominica where he attended Roseau All Age School. While attending school Bernard meet his future wife Francille. After finishing high school Bernard moved to Goodwill Dominica for a few years until he left the country. In 1973, Bernard moved to the United States where he was employed by numerous companies as a masonry/builder.
Bernard will be remembered for being a hard worker and someone who loves taking care of others (especially children). Bernard was the happiest when spending time with his family and friends. Bernard was known for being a sweet, determine, stubborn, down to earth and feisty at times. He lived his life constantly surrounded by loved ones, whether it was family or friends. Bernard loved to tackle home projects, adventuring, gardening, and misadventures added equally to the family core. Always modest, he valued hard work and was always ready to roll up his sleeves to help family, friends, and neighbors.
October 2014 Bernard suddenly started to complain about a headache. He is usually someone that doesn't complain about much, but this time he insisted that he should see a doctor. Yvonne took him to Stamford Hospital countless times in the month of October, where the doctors ran multiple tests and everything always seem to come back fine, the doctors were unable to diagnose him. Yvonne and Mr. Jacob took him to Yale New Haven Hospital where they discovered a MAS Infection in the back of his nose very close to his brain. The doctors were able to removed most of the infection but not all because of how close it was to his brain.
On May 31, 2018, Bernard Dominique took his last breath. He died in Stamford, Connecticut at St. Camillus Center. He passed in his sleep and felt no pain when he left this earth to be with his lord.
Bernard survived by his son Davidson Dominique, daughters Yvonne Desport, and Marcia Palmer, his associate friend Norah Medwinter, 20 grandkids, number of great grandchildren. Francillse Derbone, Andrew Jacobs, Emile Evertz, and Eric were all very close family friends. His light is still lit in the hearts of the many lives he touched.
