Alice M. Ryan

She was born in Stamford, CT and was the daughter of the late John Leon Murphy and Alice Durand Murphy. She was a graduate of Stamford High School. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Leo’s Senior Group and was an active board member of her Local AARP chapter.

Her beloved husband, William Edward Ryan predeceased her in 2012 after 57 years of marriage. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her dear friends.

She is survived by her loving son, Kevin W. Ryan (Barbara Graham) of Naples, Florida, her daughters, Kathleen Ryan Doherty (James), and Alison Ryan Murphy. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she adored, Kaitlin Doherty, Erin (Justin) Chaudhury, Ryan (Carly) Doherty and Bryan (Natalia) Murphy and two Great Grandchildren, Beau Doherty and Margaret Alice Brown. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Ryan Misencik, and her many nieces and nephews who gave her much joy and attention throughout her lifetime.

She was predeceased by her brother, George Murphy.

Friends are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, July 23, 8:30 – 10am at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated after visitation at St. Cecilia Parish, 1184 Newfield Ave, Stamford at 10:30am. Interment to immediately follow at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien.
