Obituary of Vera Trott King
Vera King, age 82, of Stafford, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. She was born in Stella, North Carolina in 1942 to Willie and Essie Mae Trott. Vera graduated from White Oak High School in 1960 and studied Accounting at Miller-Motte Business College in Wilmington, North Carolina. After briefly working at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, she moved to Alexandria, VA to work at the Pentagon, where she dedicated over 34 years of government service to the Department of Defense before retiring. Vera was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Stanford Eugene Trott (Nancy) of North Carolina. She is survived by her brother, Delma Cliffton Trott (Delores); three children, Tony King (Kim), Margie King, and Mike King of Stafford, VA; granddaughter, Stephanie King (Jeff Sinsley); great grandchildren, Harper and Landon Sinsley of Atlanta, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader who would devour books about history, fiction novels, and her Bible almost daily. An active member of Regester Chapel Methodist Church, she regularly attended weekly services, went to Sunday school, participated in women’s groups, and explored different ways to deepen her Christian faith. Vera enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, and would never turn down a scoop of ice cream. She was very active, especially through long walks and going to the gym, where she worked part time after retirement. Her favorite place to vacation was the ocean, where she often traveled with family to Myrtle Beach. Vera’s sincere smile and hearty laugh would brighten anyone’s day, and she’ll be very missed. Visitation will take place Friday, July 12th, 2-3pm, with a service at 3pm at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, VA 22554.
