IN THE CARE OF
Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service
Friday March 15, Our beloved Shelley Kesner Moncure passed away. Shelley was a devoted wife to Marion (known to most as Wally) for 52 years. She loved Wally with all her heart and was a wonderful lifelong companion and love to Wally. She was a beloved Mother, Sister, Mother and Sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. Her most favorite role was being a wonderful mother and grandma to her grandchildren. The most fun grandma one could ask for. Shelley was always there for anyone who needed her. She was a registered nurse and loved her work in nursing homes. She was a devoted homemaker for many, many years. She spent her free time doing what she loved, helping people. She spent many years as a Hospice Volunteer devoting her time to her patients and families in their time of need. She truly had a gift to be able to help people and always had the right words to help comfort people in their time of need. Shelley had the best sense of humor, which is something we treasure in her memory. Somehow she always managed to make you laugh in the toughest of situations. She loved to be outside and work in her flower garden. She loved to bird watch (especially her hummingbirds). She loved her church family so very much and was always helping wherever needed. She had an amazing faith in God and we know she is with him in heaven. She leaves behind her husband Wally(Marion) Moncure, her children Chris Moncure (wife Rachel), and Wendy Moncure Johnston (husband Brian). Her beloved grandchildren Clara, Ella, Daniel, and John. Her wonderful sisters Sandy McCann and Debbie Makosky and predeceased Brother Tom Kesner, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends and best friend Pastor Gail. We cannot express how thankful we are for the outpouring of support we have received from family and friends and from the Widewater community she loved so very much. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to her church home Above and Beyond Ministries in King George, VA or the American Cancer Society. Her celebration of life service will be held at Aquia Episcopal Church on Saturday March 23 at 11 am. Shelley loved flowers and bright colors and would be honored if you chose a floral or bright color to wear to her celebration of life.
