He was a retired safety officer with the federal government. After his retirement he became owner and operator of Rural Home Builders in Stafford County. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of Mt Ararat Baptist Church, where he was a past Sunday school superintendent and deacon. He was a member of the Stafford Ruritan Club, and American Legion Post #290.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah D. Bridwell and Janet D. Bridwell both of Stafford; two grandsons, Robert Lee Taylor and Shawn Patrick Taylor; and a sister, Doris Bridwell Wells Brooks and brother-in-law, Herbert Brooks both of Stafford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bridwell in 1995.
A service will be held at Mt Ararat Baptist Church on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 12:00 PM, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
