He was born on June 4, 1967 in Winston Salem, NC the son of Harvey Speight and Jeanette (Medlock) Lindsey. A man of faith and the heart of his family, his love of the Lord was a direct reflection in his love for his wife,children and grandchildren. There was always laughter around the table with Richard and never a person he met that he didn’t strike up a conversation. Richard was a Project Manager for AMSG supporting Veteran’s Affairs, served in the US Army National Guard, and served as a lay person in many local churches.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Madonna Lepley-Speight; daughters, Alexis R. Speight and Brittany S. Fitzgerald and husband Charles; son, Caleb A. Speight and wife Kaelyn; three grandchildren, Annalyn Fitzgerald, Leni Speight, Charles Fitzgerald; sister, Shannon “Cherie” Speight; brother, Robert “Chad” Speight (Elizabeth); sister in-law Teresa Roop; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by grandparents Alfred (Gertrude) Medlock; Laurel “Ruth” Blake Speight; in-laws Harold (Anna) Lepley; brother in-law James Roop.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Monday, November 30, 2020 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford where a funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 1, 2020 with Pastor Andrew Segre officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Ararat Church Cemetery.
