Ray Burns Bone, of Stafford Virginia passed away on February 24th, 2023 at Walter Reed Medical Center at the age of 79. He was surrounded by many of his loving family members and a wonderful ICU staff that helped support him during his final days of advanced stage lung cancer.

Ray was born on August 29th, 1943 in Canton, Mississippi to Bulas Milton Bone and Mary Beadie Bone. By 1956 his family settled in Petal, Mississippi where he spent most of his teenage years. Due to his love of exploring the world and a duty to serve his country he joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and served over 20 years, honorably retiring as a Master Sergeant at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York. During his time in the service he lived in many states and countries, even serving during the Vietnam War as an MP in Guam. After his term in the service he continued to work for the Department of Defense as a Contracting Specialist at the Defense Logistics Agency in Ft Belvoir Virginia.
Those who knew Ray know that he loved to travel and was always itching to hit the road or fly somewhere exciting. He took his family on road trips every year to visit extended family members and friends or explore some new vacation spot he picked out. Later in life, in retirement, he and Fayeann were able to take a helicopter ride to walk on a glacier in Alaska, revisit Italy on the Amalfi coast, the Caribbean Islands and cruise through the Panama Canal. The cities, states, and countries he explored with family and friends are countless. This love of adventure and curiosity to see the world extends to many of his kids and grandkids today. His spirit lives in all of them.
Over those many years of life he was also hit with tragedy and loss. His younger brother, Billy Bone, died at an early age in Mississippi and his wife of 45 years, Maria Luisa (née Felli) Bone, died in 2015 at their home in Dale City, Virginia Through it all and even through a battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a heart attack, and strokes he was always there for his family and friends, battling through, and supporting them all as a truly loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
