Obituary of Michael Wayne Sharp
On Wednesday, April 29th, 2020, Colonel Michael Wayne Sharp – beloved husband, father and grandfather – passed away at the age of 59. Mike was born on July 1, 1960 to G. Wayne Sharp and Lula Croghan. He has served his country for the past 37 years in the U.S. Army. He married the former Andrea Webb in 1986. Mike was a devout Christian, continuously seeking to learn more about God and to share his faith with all. He was a man of great character, challenging everyone he met to become the best that they could be. As a soldier and leader, he never missed an opportunity to mentor younger soldiers. He never demanded respect, but earned it, by showing others respect first and by working hard every single day. He was passionate about life. Whether it was hiking outdoors, playing endless rounds of disc golf, or working in the yard and projects on the house, he always stayed busy. He loved to play board games, wrestle with his grandchildren, and to challenge his family to games of football and basketball. He always had a plan. No vacation was complete without a strategic plan of action for each day. Mike loved to laugh. He saw happiness in everyday life, and never let anyone remain a stranger. Mike was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Joe Croghan, and sister Sherry Head. He is survived by his wife Andrea, his children Scott, Stacey (Robert) Kline, Chris, Chelsea (Jason) Caselden, Lauren, Megan, and Jonathan; his grandchildren Camila, Waylen, Blake, Sadie, J.J. and Alyssa; his sister Donna Bension; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers and other gifts, donations can be made to the Fisher House, which provides free lodging for service members, veterans, and their families while a loved one is hospitalized.
