Melvin "Mel" Walter Scott, 62 of Stafford passed away at Stafford Hospital Center on Tuesday February 13, 2024.
Mel is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa Scott; their children, daughters Tameka Scott (Shaune Thomas) of NC; Kasaundra Scott of Fredericksburg, VA; and son Christopher Scott, also of Fredericksburg, VA. Mel is succeeded in death by daughter Jaleesa Scott of Fort Myers, FL. Mel was known as Poppy to granddaughter Brayleigh and grandson Xavier. Mel also leaves behind mother, Roberta Scott of Plattsburgh, NY; twin sister Alvin Scott of Ronkonkoma, NY; brother Don Juan Kelty (Sarah) of Plattsburgh, NY; and sister Fontilla Richardson of Morrisonville, NY. Mother and Father-in-law Sandy and Willie McCrory of Stafford, VA; sister-in-law June Wilson (Rodney Wilson). As well as many nieces and nephews.
Mel was a native of Long Island NY who enlisted in the US Army after high school. Mel was a member of American Legion Post 28.
A celebration of life will be held in honor of both Mel and Jaleesa in the coming months.
