Sheryl was born in 1946 in Augusta, Georgia. She lived in Georgia and South Carolina as a child and young adult. She eventually met her future husband, Clyde Richardson, who proceeded her in death, in Augusta and they married in 1973. They moved north to Maryland, eventually settling in Stafford in 1986.
Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She threw the best birthday parties, baked amazing cakes, and could transform any room into a celebration with some construction paper and balloons. Her house was the one where everyone gathered. She is preceded in death by her son, Bryan Richardson. She is survived by her beloved daughters Carrie Richardson (Brian O’Leary) and Tracy Richardson and her grandchildren Taylor, Matthew, and Bailey. She was an only child, but always claimed her sisters-in-laws were the siblings she never had. She is survived by Anne Johnston (Gene) and Rita DeFrank (James) and nieces Amy Snyder (Pete), Leslie Wheeler (Mitch), Jill Sikora (Jake) and nephews Michael, Doug (Carla), Scott (Wendy), and Tony (Joe).
She taught art at Park Ridge Elementary school where she inspired children for almost 20 years. She was loved by her students, many of which would approach her in public to thank and hug her for being their favorite teacher. Her legacy continues through them.
