Her grandkids knew her as hilarious and a hoot, while her in-laws jokingly called her a ‘pain in the ass’, but almost everyone knew her to be vibrant, silly, and full of life.
She led every interaction with an open heart and never let anyone leave without a hug even if she didn’t know them, she cussed like a sailor, cheated at every game we played, had a propensity for clapping after the smallest occurrence, and was always the first to laugh at herself.
Family was the most important thing to her; whenever we gathered for a meal she would raise a toast “to family!”
In the last few months, Mom had become ill dealing with several health challenges. This summer alone she fractured her back, shoulder, and most recently her hip “Nevertheless she persisted”. She had immense fortitude that outlived every prediction of her demise. In true form, we’re certain she held on just to make it to Election Day proudly sporting her “Kamala for President” shirt.
We will miss her beyond words but the lessons – about family, laughter, celebrating the small things, and the strength to push through hard times- will stay with us for a lifetime.
Mom, to you we say “to family!
