John Henderson began his military career in the Army Reserves in 1949 transitioning to active duty Army in 1952 where he served his country in supply support traveling the world where he met his beautiful bride in Germany in 1956. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring in 1974, he continued serving his country with the Federal Protective Services and a prison guard for the Lorton Corrections Facility before his final retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Edwine Elizabeth; brother Jackie Henderson; two sons, William and Clay; three daughters, Brenda Stephenson and her husband Jeff, Sonja Hall, Betty Staats and her husband James. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, with one in the oven.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2-4:00 pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford VA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:30 am, with interment to follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
