Jay was such a delight!    Always cheerful and always smiling no matter what.     I'm so thankful to have gotten to know him and work with him.     He always made my work days better and he was always willing to help.     I will definitely miss him.     I'm praying for your family during this difficult time and wish you peace and comfort over the coming weeks.

My heart is broken and will be forever. Jay you were more than just a nephew you were also my baby boy. I will never delete the text messages from you, especially the very last one telling me that you love me. I miss you and always will. Your Auntie/mom😢

As a teacher, there are just some students who stay with me forever. Jawuan is one of them. He had a special way of making those around him better. Each day he would share his humor and bright smile with us, and he was a key part of some of the best years of my career. He was a star player on our basketball team and enjoyed every minute of it! I am blessed to have had the honor to teach him during his three years of middle school.

I am a substitute teacher who often substitutes at Tomahawk Creek Middle School where Jawuan went to school.  Despite my limited times at the school compared to a full time teacher, I remember Jawuan and that smile.  Just his presence made a very positive impression.  My deepest condolences to the entire family.

Jay, was one of the greatest friends i couldve ever had. he noticed when something was wrong when i was upset, he never failed to send me the sweetest text messages and light up the hallways with his beautiful smile. my heart breaks knowing i’ll never get to see that smile again, school will never be the same. and no one could ever replace the bond me and him had. I love and miss you jay..

I am so sorry. My condolences to the family.

Condolences to my family. God entrusts his most challenging battles to his strongest soldiers. Our hearts are heavy with grief, but we take comfort in knowing that God needed him more. After everyone goes their separate ways, we find solace in the knowledge that God remains with us. I will continue to pray for my family while my little cousin rests with the Lord.

Jawuan is one of those students that I will never forget. Twenty years from now, I won’t need someone to describe him to me to try to remember him because all I have to do is hear his name and I will remember him and the joy he brought me. I had him all three years of middle school and loved every moment of my time with him. 
He made me love my job and love coming to work each day. He would make me laugh, he would roast me, he would give the best hugs. He brought light to everyone he met. This loss is immeasurable. I am so incredibly sorry to your family. I can only imagine the extreme pain this has brought you all. My heart is broken for you all.

To my great nephew with the infectious smile, you were truly loved and shall be truly missed , but one day sooner or later ..

I was fortunate enough to get to meet and hangout a little with Jay several months. I really can't put into words my sadness over this incident. I did love seeing him, he always had an endless smile. He would share openly with our group of friends. He always seemed upbeat never a bad or sad or angry thing to say to anyone I knew. He will be terribly missed, I haven't stopped thinking of him and explaining it to people. This goes to show that people don't need to look hurt or show sadness, to be really struggling inside.

He had such an outgoing personality. He literally could turn everybody up with just a speaker & some dance moves lol. My sweet baby was the life of the party every single time! May he continue to turn us up from the afterlife. I love you baby brother.
