Dorita Moreno’s Obituary
Dora Moreno, also known as Dorita, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at home accompanied by her loving and inseparable daughter, Teresa Sierra. She was 78 years old.
Dorita was born on December 24, 1945, in Alianza, Valle, Honduras, and was the daughter of the late Jose Banegas and Ernestina Moreno. She loved traveling, teaching, and was a gifted orator who loved to engage in conversations but above all her favorite pastime was to spend quality time with her family.
Dorita was a person who loved her family unconditionally and bravely fought to extend her stay with us until the very end. She was hospitalized in 2012 due to diabetes and related health issues, and doctors expected Dorita to live no more than a few days but she defied all odds and blessed us with her presence for an additional 12 years. In 2020, she was hospitalized with COVID-19 and the family was advised by doctors that she wouldn't make it but again, she beat the odds and remained with her family for an additional 4 years. Behind her fighting spirit, her number one incentive was always her family and she would give us strength during her difficult moments by reiterating: “I will fight so as to not leave you all behind.”
She loved her children, grandkids, and dedicated her life to her family. She had and lovingly raised 4 children – Orlis, Teresa, Carlos, and Suyapa – and she graciously extended her maternal spirit to all of her grandkids, particularly Wilson and Gustavo, the two grandkids she raised from the moment they were babies. She was always there for her family and our fondest and most joyous memories of her contagious laughs and smiles are those when she was surrounded by family. We were fortunate that she fought to be with us until the very end and we were blessed to celebrate Christmas and her 78th birthday this past December.
Although her physical light is no longer shining, we will carry her loving memories, advice, and teachings with us as the Christmas Star paving our paths for the rest of our lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto “Beto” Sierra and her mother, Ernestina Moreno. She is survived by her 4 children and 10 grandkids, who fervently miss her.
We love you forever, our beloved mother and grandmother!
Your children, Orlis, Teresa, Carlos, and Suyapa
And grandkids, Wilson, Nylieth, Gustavo, Orlito, Ariel, Jayson, Karla, Allen, Moises, and Jaffeth
