Mr Embrey was a lifelong resident of Stafford and member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He was a former chairman of the board of deacons, trustee, and held a number of other positions within the church. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean conflict, where he received numerous medals, including a bronze star. He was a member of American Legion Post 290 and retired as a supply supervisor from Quantico Marine Base. He was an avid hunter and Washington Redskins fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; two sons, Anthony Albert Embrey of San Diego, CA and Craig Louis Embrey and wife, Magda of South Africa; daughter, Melissa Ann Taylor and husband, Alonzo of Richmond; three grandchildren, Christopher Embrey of Stafford, Joshua and Rachel Embrey both of Milton, DE; two great grandchildren; sister, Helen Flack of Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eppa and Edna Embrey, Sr; eight brothers, Vernon, Elwood, Eppa, Francis, G.W., William, Lambert, and Gordon; and two sisters, Virginia Tolson and Ruth Speck.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford. A funeral service will be held at Rock Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in Rock Hill Cemetery. Rev Paul Curry and Rev Matt McCraney will be officiating.
