Sandra graduated in 1963 from Floresville High School and later graduated from the Nursing Program at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was an LVN nurse with Spahn Hospital in Corpus Christi for 7 years and then spent 32 years working with Memorial Hospital Memorial City. She loved her patients and loved working with the Doctors and nurses.
Although Sandra loved to work at the hospital she also had hobbies outside of work. She liked gardening, shopping, decorating for all of the holidays, going to garage and estate sales, but mostly spending time with her family. She was an advocate for the Humane Society and donated anytime she could. She loved all animals especially her wonderful pets; Cricket, Coco, Chopper and so many more.
She is survived by her sister Doris A. Funk, her brother Clyde W. Burkett of Hobson, brother David Burkett of Floresville, brother Bill Burkett of Boerne and brother Homer Burkett of Floresville.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father Clyde M. Burkett and her mother Sydonia M. Baumann Burkett. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that will deeply miss their wonderful Aunt.
A celebration of life for Sandra will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, TX 77477.
