I hope people are able to take a page out of your book. We all need to smile more, stress less, respect others, be kind, take time to listen, and be grateful for our many blessings. You are the best son, friend, cousin, brother, teammate and boyfriend anyone could ask for. You are the man that everyone should aspire to be. You continue to challenge me every day to be the best person I can possibly be. You are my reason for getting up in the morning and my reason to smile. You changed me for the better and helped me grow as a person. I hope I can make you proud. I am so grateful to have been able to love and be loved by such an incredible souls. I love you so much Robert Platt and I will never stop loving you. (7) 

•	Use your manners, respect people, and always offer to help others.
 Being at Jane and Vanessa’s house, I was able to understand so much more about you. I was shocked when I first met you because you genuinely respected me as a woman (which is sad that I have to say that, but our generation is not very big on respecting women). And even when we had first met, you went out of your way to be there for me and help me. Whether it was coming to get me from places if I wasn’t having a good time, or helping take my car to the remote lot so I wouldn’t have to take the shuttle at night, or going with me to the store because it wasn’t safe for me to go places alone near campus, you always found a way to give me your time. Watching you at Jane and Vanessa’s, I could see that that’s where a lot of those values came from. You learned to always say “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am” or “yes sir” and “no sir” and to always say please and thank you. You learned to respect women and to treat everyone with kindness and compassion. You learned to always offer to help, even with the small stuff.
•	Be patient and take the time to listen. 
We both taught each other this one. One of our friends told us one time that she couldn’t date either one of us because of how stubborn and headstrong we both are. But we learned from each other to take the time and listen to each other and communicate with each other. You taught me that both of our feelings matter and that we shouldn’t disregard one another’s feelings. We openly discussed the things that would upset us and then take the time to resolve the problem and talk things out. You made it easy to communicate with you because you took the time to truly hear me and understand me.  (6)


•	Live every moment like it’s your last.
 Everyone knows you’re a happy-go-lucky guy and doing life with you this past year was the funnest year I have ever experienced. There were very few plans. If you woke up and wanted to do something, we would do it. Every day was an adventure with you. You loosened me up and showed me how to have fun no matter what we were doing. You put your all into everything you did and you had a blast doing it. If you set your mind on something there was nothing anyone could do or say to stop you. You attacked life with so much passion and joy.
•	Loyalty is the greatest gift you can give.
 Loyalty was one of the most important values to you. Your heart is so big for so many people and I know that everyone knew you would always have their back no matter what. We all knew that you were someone that we could count on. If anyone ever needed you, you would be there in instant to help them, or stand up for them, or just simply be there for them. No one ever doubted the love and loyalty you had for so many people. (5)


•	Love yourself, so you can open your heart to others. 
I thought it was normal to not fully love myself. But looking back, I don’t know why I could have ever thought that. You gave me back the confidence that I had when I was a little girl. You definitely loved yourself haha and in the beginning, I was kind of envious you for that. But then, I saw that because you loved yourself, you could give people so much more of yourself and you had so much more love to give. Through your love and reassurance I began to love myself and I was able to love you so much deeper than what I could have ever imagined to be possible.
•	Put the cap back on the toothpaste, drink more water, don’t go to bed with a dirty room, and a little vitamin c here and there never hurt anyone. 
I know, I know these are all common sense things and they are also things my parents have tried to instill in me countless of times. But I have to include these because all of them are things I did not care about or do, prior to meeting you. But for some reason, it’s easier to listen to you. I cannot stand the taste of Emergen-C (to the point of gagging) but the first time you poured me a glass of it and I point blank told you that I would not be drinking any of it, you somehow were able to convince me and I downed the entire glass. So it’s safe to say that you are the only person in the world that can get some vitamin c in me. Whether it was making me eat when I felt like I couldn’t, forcing me to drink a glass of water every morning or just having me text you to let you know I was home safe, I didn’t have any trouble doing those things because, through those little actions, I can feel just how much you cared about me. (4)


•	Appreciate who and where you come from. 
You are so incredibly proud of your parents. You could talk to me for hours about how grateful you were to have the parents you have. You never ever doubted how much your parents love you. The first time I ever saw you cry was when you were telling me about your parents. You explained to me how hard they both worked to support you and love you in every way possible. You told me that your goal was to be as good of a father and husband that your dad is. You shared with me just how selfless of a man he is. You told me that your dad worked so hard to be able give you everything you could ever need or want and you wanted to be able to do the same for your future family. Your dad set a very high standard for what a man should be and I watched you work every day to live up to that standard. And Robert, you definitely did.
•	It is okay to feel the things you feel, and it is okay to talk about how you feel. 
This one sort of ties into the whole vulnerability thing. For some reason I always thought that it wasn’t okay to be sad or unhappy and that if I showed the way I felt I would look weak. But because of you, I learned that my feelings are valid and to allow myself to feel all my emotions. Watching you open up to me made me realize that feelings don’t make you weak, in fact they make you stronger. (3)


•	Seek out the good in everyone.
 I think many people struggle with this one. It’s easy to judge people based on the things you’ve heard about them. But you don’t do that. You gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. You are so good at doing that, that you’re even able to change people’s opinions about people. You never let what other people say influence your own opinion. And that is so incredibly rare, especially with people our age.
•	Don’t sweat the little stuff, or even the big stuff most times.
 I always got frustrated with how little stress you had. Most times I would get stressed out by how you weren’t stressed. But you taught me that almost always, there is a solution, and if there isn’t, there is no point in getting worked up or making yourself unhappy over the many things we don’t have control over.
•	Go through life with a smile on your face. 
Oh my gosh your smile, I love that smile so much. It is impossible to look at your smile and not be able to smile. I’m pretty sure that’s why I could never be mad at you for more than 15 minutes. When you walked into a room, people were drawn to you. You were the person that everyone wanted to talk to and get to know because you radiated. (2)


Robert,

I’ve stared at this page hundreds of times, but couldn’t find the words. I don’t know how I’m supposed to put everything on here.

You are my first love, my very best friend, and I strongly believe, my soul mate. Prior to meeting you, the last time I felt pure happiness was probably when I was 10 ish. Even then, I can honestly say this past year was the best, happiest year of my life. You were the first person (including myself) that was able to see me entirely and love me despite all of my many imperfections. You are patient and kind and have such a big heart for so many people. Before you, I had never known what it meant to completely and endlessly love someone with every ounce in my body. I didn’t even think it was possible to love myself, but you showed me how to.

I have been keeping a list of the many things you taught me. I know this list will continue to grow, but I thought I would share a little bit of it.

•	It is impossible to love and be loved without allowing yourself to be vulnerable. 
Vulnerability is the biggest thing I struggle with. I don’t like letting people in because it makes it easier to get hurt. You made it easy for me to open up to you. There were nights that you would just let me cry. You wouldn’t ask me to talk about anything with you, but your presence made me feel at ease and I felt at home in your arms. Your go to whenever I cried was to say “everything is going to be okay.” Normally, if anyone else ever told me that I would, without a doubt, scoff and roll my eyes. But somehow, those words coming from you had a whole new meaning to me and when you said it, I really knew that everything was going to be okay. (1) 


         Robert was my brother, friend, and someone I looked up to and admired greatly. Him and I had a very unique relationship that consisted mainly of sarcastic remarks and tons of laughter. 
        Although he was older than me and closer in age to my sister he always had a way of including me and my brother in anything him and my sister were doing. No matter how old Robert got he would always come to our crawfish boils, Christmas cookie making, all of our family trips ,and you could bet that he would come over to our house on Christmas expecting to stay for a couple hours, but would end up staying for many days where we would watch movies, talk about life and how in the future we would always stay close no matter  And that is what I learned most from Robert is that no matter crazy and hectic life can get family is always a priority.  
          Robert was a ray of sunshine in my life and many others. Me and my sister would always talk about how perfect he was and now he is in the most perfect place. I love you Robert forever and always. 

Robert was not only my cousin, but my brother and my best friend. We have always been close and I could count on him for anything. He was my families perfect child and a role model for my siblings. He would stay at our house for days on end during Christmas time and we would catch up. While he was around he had an undeniable positive presence. He made everyone laugh and feel included. Robert was my cousin and I’m so lucky to have been so close to him and have so many amazing memories. From parasailing in South Padre, to riding rides at the rodeo and pleasure pier. When I go to college I was excited because Robert started inviting me to hang out with his friends. I loved living so close to him. Some days he would take me to go eat dinner at my grandmas house, others we would just go to a party. That’s just Robert. Always doing something for other people. 

Roberts effect on everyone was something special. Everyone that met him could never say anything negative. His love was endless and his effect on people will never be lost. 

I loved Robert like a brother. He will not be forgotten. I know he is watching over me and I know he is in a perfect place. That’s all a perfect person like Robert deserves. We love you Rob. 

Robert was my brother, friend, cousin and most of all my wrestling opponent. Robert was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was the brother that I had always wanted. He would always be there for all of my birthdays and he would be the life of the party. He would be there for all of the family events, even if he had other places to be at with his friends.    Robert was the light in the family and will be forever. Uncle Robert and Aunt Kaddie thank you so much for bringing Robert into my life. He is my role model and forever will be. 
Robert was the perfect child even though he was the one getting me into trouble all these years.
At the ranch there were two golf carts and Robert and I were on one and Hannah and her friend was in the other. I was driving us back to the house when all of a sudden Hannah and her friend come speeding towards us and we crash into each other. The second we stop Robert says “I’m out of here”, and he runs back to the house. When I get back to the house, I see Robert next to my grandma and he is just pointing at me saying, “he did it”. And with that I lost my driving privileges. 
 
Robert I love you and I will cherish all the memories I have of us. 
PS: I was always better at basketball

Robert was my best friend through high school, my teammate, and more importantly someone that I considered to be my big brother. He was there for me when my father passed and helped me keep moving forward. He supported me in track even after he was done competing. We were almost always together whether it be at practice or hanging out at one of our houses just talking about the future of track and career possibilities to become rich. I won’t forget the memories of our weekly trips to club practice or our trip to Oklahoma. He always knew how to make things more fun. You will be missed everyday brother. I love you, rest easy. 

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Ben Percefull and I have been Robert’s roommate for the past two years. Being given that opportunity has been such an incredible blessing. From the first day meeting him in the parking lot on move-in day freshman year, we were almost always together. We were the dynamic duo that everyone got mixed up because they thought we were twins, including our academic advisors and coaches. I still remember one of the last practices Coach Burrell called me Mr. Platt because you almost never got the chance to talk to us individually and figure out who was who, so I don’t blame you for that one. I could probably count on my fingers the amount of times I did something without him, that’s how much we were with each other. When he would sleep until 1 or 2 in the afternoon I would wait for him or call him to wake him up letting him know we had practice in 5 minutes because I didn’t want to go without my jumping buddy. He was just the guy you always wanted to have around even if you weren’t doing anything, his presence alone was enough to make things fun. He radiated an aura of excitement and that’s just something that’s irreplaceable.

(Continued from Ben)  I specifically remember one day in particular when we had stayed up to an unimportant time at night doing our English papers we waited until the last night possible to do, and when I woke up at I think something around 2:30pm I looked over to see Robert’s mouth wide open snoring so loud. I knew he was tired and I didn’t want to wake him up so I just went back to sleep too because I didn’t want to go to practice without him. We woke up at 6pm and then finally stumbled out of bed and went to go do our running workout, 5 hours after all the other multis did their training. After we finished I looked at him and said “if anyone asks why we’re here so late we’re just going to say ‘champions are made when no one else is watching’” and we walked back to our room and went back to sleep. I could talk about him for hours and share all the incredible memories we made, but I’ll leave you with a closing statement. Robert Platt, you have been the best teammate, roommate, friend, and brother I could’ve ever asked for and I love you and I want to say a final thank you for the impact you’ve had on my life. We will meet again some day down the runway, that’s a pole vault reference. may you Rest In Peace. Thank you.

Hello everyone, my name is Jesse Casas, I was the fall 18 pledge class vice president, and my fellow pledge brothers up here with me are Drew Myler, Carter Wells, Danny Hayashi, Austen Allnutt, and Solomon Erho, we will be speaking on behalf of Fall 18, Robert’s pledge class. To us, Robert was more than a brother, he was blood. Robert was the kind of person that we always could count on when we needed help or just a friend, he would be there in an instant. Within the pledge class, Robert was a leader that everyone gravitated towards. His smile and jokes would light up a room. I believe Robert’s best quality is his unwavering loyalty, no matter what argument I was in, whether I was right or wrong, he always had my back, and that is one of the biggest things I love about him. He truly was the shining example of not only how a man, but a TKE should carry himself. I know I not only speak for myself, but the whole pledge class when I say I am beyond proud to not only have been able to call him my brother, but also my best friend.

My name is Austen Allnutt or Nutt as some of you know me and I am Roberts pledge brother. I’ve only had the opportunity of knowing Robert for a year but I can happily say it was the best year of my life. I can not think of a day in the past semester that I did not hang out with Robert. He was the one I confided in and could always trust. We went through everything this past year together. From movie nights at Kirby’s to forcing me to watch anime he was always there next to me and making me laugh. There was not a moment I felt excluded or unwanted when around him. I was practically a full time third wheel around them and I felt blessed to be in that position. Towards the end of January Robert told me he wanted to ask out Kirby. He thought out everything to perfection. We went to every store in and around the galleria looking for the perfect necklace. He thought nothing was good enough for Kirby and that was when I knew exactly how loving and compassionate he was. Everything he did In order to ask her out was planned to perfection and was the most romantic thing I have seen. I was my happiest when I was with him. I even remember several times we stayed up late watching random youtube videos in Kirby’s room and Drew was trying so hard to drag me out to study for a very important test we had the next morning. he had the ability to Brighten anyone’s day with his smile. I remember being up late talking about plans of him being the president and me being his vice. He meant the world to everyone around him. He was the perfect friend, boyfriend, and son. Robert was the most passionate man I have ever met. Everything he did he put his all in to it. We may not of had the chance to room together like we planned but I know we had a blast planning it all out. I am going to miss all the joy you brought to my life but I know God has a plan for you and I am just waiting for the day I get to see you again. See you soon Platty. There won’t be a day where I won’t miss you. Rest easy

Robert Allen Platt Jr. was one of my nearest and dearest friends. Over the past year I have been more than blessed to call him my brother. Robert was the perfect example of how a man and a TKE should carry himself. He was loving, compassionate, and inspiring for everyone in our fraternity, and especially our pledge class. From being one of the few just initiated Fall 18’s with enough ambition to run for an executive council position, to his aspirations of being the president of the fraternity someday, Robert’s dedication and love for his brothers in the bond was extremely admirable. However, this passion did not extend solely through the fraternity. Robert was also a loving boyfriend, son, and friend to so many more. I thank God everyday that I had the opportunity to make so many memories with Robert. From the time Robert had all of Fall 18 over at his house and bought Jesse a birthday cake after all 17 of us had met just weeks before to the late night study sessions at the end of the year when we realized we needed to study a little harder for finals than we thought earlier, Robert made every moment with him a time to remember. I’ll never forget the time Robert, me, Connor, and Danny met Bobby in Colorado to go snowboarding for a few days during winter break. That trip was so much fun, and we all got the privilege to learn how so, so, very terrible Robert was at snowboarding, yet he refused to go slow down the mountain. I’ll never forget him flying down a black diamond and falling flat on his butt. I turned my board and started slowing down to help him up, but he had so much momentum that he just kept sliding down the rest of the mountain while I laughed at him and he yelled at me the entire way. These couple of memories and so much more, I will keep close to my heart for the rest of my life. I know I speak for everyone in the room when I say I was blessed to know Robert, and anyone who didn’t get the chance to meet him truly missed out. Long live Platty. 

Robert Jr - (or Plattey as I learned today).  Your service today was absolutely touching in every way.  I know you were there, you felt the love and I'm guessing you saw there were 2000+ cars in the parking lot.  People came in droves to let you know how much you loved and were loved, how much you inspired, how much you made people aspire to be a better person, to live life laid back BUT to the fullest.   We should ALL be more like you.  Such an awesome testament to who you are as a soul, a follower of Christ, a son, TKE brother, athlete, grandson, nephew, cousin and boyfriend to Kirby.   I can only hope that my son, Rance, who you two used to wiggle easily through out the entire HBU Volleyball Camp and practices on your ripsticks, or hit to the water wake-boarding and wake surfing OR just general spending the night and wreaking havoc.  I pray Rance will be half the man you have become.  Your TKE brothers consistently told the same story about the man you have become at home and in the TKE house, and I'm so very proud of you Robert Jr.!!   You were raised by my long time best friend and HBU college roommate, Kathleen Erin Mahoney, and at the time our vball athletic trainer at HBU, Robert Platt, who we lovingly called PUP back in the day, I can't imagine you having any better parents in the entire world.  You are one blessed kid and you are loved and will be missed with an emptiness in our hearts that is indescribable.   Rest in peace sweet angel, YES, you have wings!   Cause baby there ain't no BAR high enough, Ain't no valley low enough, Ain't no river wide enough to keep us from seeing you again!  We LOVE you!

I only knew Robert briefly, but it was enough time to come to love him.  When he and some TKE brothers came through Dallas on their way to their Colorado ski trip in December, I had the pleasure of hosting them for the night before they continued their journey the next day.  Robert and all the brothers were the nicest, most polite young gentlemen I had ever met.  Robert complimented me on my cooking, and I am not a good cook!  Perhaps it was because they all said it was the best meal they'd had in months!  Goodness, what do these boys eat at UH?!  Robert was so sweet in allowing me to load him up with my super warm ski gear, hats, gloves, chapstick, kleenex, etc.  I loved his kindness, his humor, his love for his new brothers, and I knew he was a very smart and very special person.  I am grateful that Drew had the pleasure of knowing Robert and calling him "brother."  Our family will never forget him.  Our hearts and our prayers go out to your family and to all who knew Robert.  May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.  Until we meet again, Platty :)

We all know Robert even if we only knew him through his parents description of what his latest achievements were. Yes Robert’s smile was contagious and he always brought laughter into any situation. Uplifting spirit sharing his charm while being humble. I only saw Robert once a year at family gatherings watching how he grew into a wonderful young man. Robert was a special person always stepping up to help out or keeping up with his cousins with his competitive personality. Keeping memories of Robert close to my heart while a smile comes over my face thinking of you and your contagious smile. May God be holding you in the palm of his hand. 

Kaddie and Robert, I am so sorry for your loss.  I met Robert Jr. a few times on campus at HBU.  He was always so polite and seemed like such a fine  boy.   You have been in my prayers and will continue to be so.  I hope you can feel God's strength as you grieve now and I hope your memories of Robert Jr. will be blessings for you in the future.

My heart is broken by the loss of Robert Platt Jr, an amazing young man with such a bright future. Robert is a dear and close friend to my son and all the Bay Area Academy Pole Vaulters and coaches. He is the son of some of the most incredible people you could ever know who are friends with so many in our community. I’m at a loss for words and deeply saddened. Kaddie and Robert my prayers are with you. 
In his short time on earth he has made so many friends and lasting memories that will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Robert. God took you home early for reasons we may never understand. We honor your life in the rich memories we will always keep in our hearts. You are a beautiful soul and such a great kid. I will never forget your smile.

I never met your precious son, Robert, but I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Such an amazing young man with such a bright future. I hope you know there are so many people who have never met you or your son that are praying for your pain and sadness. You are not alone. May you feel the warmth of God's presence & that of your son, always. 

At the state meet in 2017 Robert was tied for 3rd at 15'9ft. He walked over to me after he cleared it and said coach, I want to keep going, it feels like I have wings. I said, well, keep going.  Let's be great. His next vault, he cleared 16ft and took 3rd over all which helped the team take 2nd place at the 6A State track meet. Robert, you gained your wings that day and you will forever have them. I love you, we all love you and miss you. Till we meet again.
