Bob was born in Richmond, Virginia to Carl & Eleanor Clark on March 25, 1944. Bob and his family enjoyed living in many parts of the country while his dad was in the construction business. His favorite area to live in was northern Idaho, where he loved to fish and hunt with his many high school friends.
Bob graduated from the first graduating class of Abilene Cooper High School, Abilene, Texas, in 1962. His family then moved to Houston, Texas where Bob began studies at Houston Community College and University of Houston, earning a degree in Transportation and Distribution Services. In 1965, Bob was drafted by the U.S. Army and spent a tour of duty in South Korea, until his discharge.
Bob began his professional career by working in the oil industry as a transportation manager and logistics manager for several companies such as Charter Oil Company, Ryder Logistics, Shell Oil Company, and finally starting a successful compliance and safety consulting company. During his career, he continued to study and became registered to practice law before the Federal Maritime Commission as well as the Department of Transportation.
Bob is preceded in death by his son, Robert Y. Clark, and his wife, Betty Abernathy Clark. He is survived by his sister, Grace Gaines and husband Dr. Larry Gaines, and their two sons and family, and sister Val Powell and husband Russell Powell, and their son and daughter and family.
Bob was well known in the Houston Transportation Industry and served as past president of the Transportation Club of Houston as well as past president of Delta Nu Alpha Chapter 36 Transportation Fraternity. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family and business and personal friends made over the years.
