Maurice was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lori, his brother Claude and his parents, Rosario and Mathilda Rochon, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law on both sides of the family. He is survived by his wife Jean, his brother, Claude's widow, Louise, four brothers, Norman (Shirley), Marcel (Joan), Roger (Lois), and Gerry, as well as two sisters, Anita (Maurice) and Simone (Gilles), brothers-in-law Don (Joann), John (Nell), Steve (Betty) and sister-in-law Diane (Denny), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Maurice was born in St. Eustache, Manitoba (Canada), graduated from Otterburne College and went on to be a lineman with Manitoba Hydro. Deciding that the weather was too cold up north, he moved to California in the early sixties. His work also brought him to Hawaii and Alaska. But then he settled in Houston where he operated his own business, M & M Buried Cable Services, Inc. for forty-five years.
Maurice's work ethics were impeccable; his respect, integrity and dedication towards his employees were rewarded by their loyalty and trust. Maurice was a very loving and caring person who would never refuse help to anyone who needed it. He and Jean also loved children, and though they were denied a family of their own, they always welcomed children in their home and helped take care of them when parents were away.
Maurice had a heart by-pass surgery at the age of 38 which never prevented him from working very long and arduous days. His strength and determination took him through years of labor where working and/or weather conditions were sometimes intolerable. This particular trait helped Maurice work through many health problems while never complaining. However, on July 20th, after a few months of serious illness and several trips to the hospital, Maurice succumbed to his many ailments and passed away very peacefully into the hands of his Lord and went to join his infant daughter and his many loved ones.
Jean and family wish to express their many thanks to the Herman Memorial ICU Hospital staff. We are especially thankful to Dr. Cyril Wolf, family doctor, whose dedication and care for the last 30 years allowed Maurice to lead a fruitful life and to leave his loved ones in peace and serenity. Thank you to all the special friends, neighbors and relatives for their kindness and support. A private family service will be held at a later date in Maurice' s hometown of St-Pierre-Jolys in Manitoba.
