On Saturday, July 6, 2024, God came and received his Angel Marie Conner back to him. She profess her faith in Christ at an early age becoming a member of Kingston United Progressive Baptist Church. Later she moved her membership to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California. Then when she moved to Houston her final church home was Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
Marie completed her education at Amite County High School in 1959. After graduating in 1961, she left Natchez, Mississippi and moved to Oakland, California, where she later married the love of her life Cecil F. Conner in September of 1962. In 1963, they began their family two handsome sons and one beautiful daughter. They later moved to Houston, Texas in 1977, when they raised their beautiful family. She worked at Foley’s loss prevention from 1978 until she retired in the early 2000’s. She worked a second job for Mrs. Berton as a caregiver until she transitioned. In 2010, she started working at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home as a receptionist until she became ill.
The Fashionable Marie Conner had a love for Bingo, traveling, cruises, music, fashion, cooking, family gatherings and living her life to the fullest. Marie always made sure her family was taken care of in any way she could. Her knowledge and wisdom stood strong when she spoke to anyone, she was always confident whenever she walked in a room. Marie Conner reflected the Lord in everything she done.
She is heavenly transitioning by her father and mother Hollis and Lucille Butler Green; her brothers, Mark Butler and Luke Butler; her two sisters, Mary Louise Gaines and Deloris Edwards. She leaves to cherish her memories of her eventful life the love of her life Cecil Fredrick Conner; her two sons, Fredrick Anthony Conner (Helen), Michael Lashon Conner and her one daughter, Cecilia Aliesa Conner-Mathews (Dwayne). Her six grandchildren, DeShaunique Marie Conner, Tranise Conner, Jermaine Conner, Tamarrow S. Robinson (Trevor) , Jasmine A. Robinson , Anthony Conner (Taya); her 11 great- grandchildren, DayJoun , Chris, Brandon, Tamarrius,Lyric , Christan, Cierstyn , Dean, Jr. , Tylnn, Delani; her siblings, Hollis Green, Jr. (Laura) , Bonnie Hatfield (Rev. Anthony) Clarence Green, Jellena Johnson (Randolph), Mamie White, Shirley Dawson (Arthur), James Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends and colleagues are invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Marie during a repast to be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
Marie’s favorite color was green, so the family is kindly asking that you please show support by wearing green along with them.
