He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Langlois McCauley, daughters, Molly McCauley Kelly, husband Brian and grandson Matthew James Kelly of Nashville, TN, Katy McCauley Dy and husband Don of San Francisco, CA; sisters Patricia McCauley Smith and Mary Ann McCauley Kelley both from Houston; former wife Joyce McCauley –Bunjes of Cuero, TX. John is survived by many family members in Houston, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, Washington DC, and California. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Patrick McCauley, Jr. and MaryAnn Osust McCauley.
Born in Plainfield, N.J. on February 18, 1944, John moved to Houston in 1971. He graduated from St. Elizabeth’s High School in Elizabethtown N.J. and had a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He had a long career as a tax accountant opening his own business, Mr. Taxman in 1986, retiring in 2008. He loved sailing, movies, the ballet, the symphony and other fine arts and had a great fondness for country music, Mexican food and margaritas.
A Memorial Mass is planned for a date in the near future.
The family wishes to thank Westbrae Court Retirement Community and Interactive Health Care for their caring and concern for John for the last few years and all they did for him and his family during his stay at Westbrae.
Donations in John’s memory to the National Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer’s Fund or the American Cancer Society would be most appreciated by his family.
