Washington, D.C., October 21, 1938, he was the son of Stanley T. and Barbara W. Johnson.
After studying at Johns Hopkins University and Monterey Peninsula College, Herb learned to speak
fluent German at the Army Language School at the Presidio and was then stationed in Germany. Upon
leaving the army, he worked with computers for the remainder of his career. When he retired, Herb volunteered with the Gathering Place ministry at First United Methodist Church and worked with children at Kate Bell Elementary. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan. Herb is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Diane; son, Todd; daughter, Tricia; grandchildren, Wyatt and Audrey; and brother, Stanley. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford.
