Gary passed away suddenly at home after battling a series of illnesses over the past 2 years. While this has been an emotionally difficult time for all the family, we know that he had a strong, Christian faith and he had said many times that he was worn out from the fight and he was ready to go home to be with the Lord. We know he is dancing in heaven with his parents and family, with his beloved dog Duke by his side. He is now enjoying a full head of hair, no pain in his joints, looking young, happy and full of peace. We love him and miss him. We look forward to being with him again one day in heaven.
We will be having a memorial Celebration of Life this Saturday 1/28/17 at 3 PM at Earthman Funeral Home, 12555 S Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, TX 77477. A private cremation scattering will be held at a later date. Note cards will be available for those who would like to write down a special memory or moment you have of Gary. Pastor Phil Arms of Life Reach Ministries will conduct the service. Pastor Arms was a major influence in Gary’s Christian spiritual development for over 20 years, which in turn has impacted the spiritual growth and blessings on our family.
Gary was born in Minneapolis, MN to Maynard and Delores (Ingram) LaCount who preceded him in death. He is survived by: wife Barbara, children Teresa LaCount-Ramirez and Anthony LaCount (wife Mistie). His granchildren include Lindsey and Courtney Ramirez; and Chloe, Bella, Gage and Olivia LaCount; brother Randy LaCount (Bonnie), sisters Debra LaCount Davis and Lori Worsham (Roy), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was a life-long sports enthusiast and outdoorsman, enjoying nothing better than being out on the water fishing. He loved children. He played Santa Claus to his nieces and nephews in years past and participated in coaching soccer when Anthony was younger. In recent years, he was happiest driving his tractor around peacefully mowing his property or sitting by the pond feeding his ducks, geese and holding a fishing pole catching fish.
While growing up in Bloomington, MN in his teens, Gary attended a Billy Graham Crusade in Minneapolis. On that faithful day, the Lord reached down from heaven and said your mine. And he said yes Lord I am. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior which then set in motion a life he could have never planned. On February 24, 1968 the Lord moved again and two became one in Christ when he married his beloved wife, Barbara Johnson. Later that same year in November, the first bundle of joy was delivered, Teresa Marie LaCount. Four years later the second bundle of joy was delivered with the birth of Anthony James LaCount. He moved his family shortly after out of the frigid cold into the beautiful warm weather of Tampa, FL in 1973. While in Florida, he worked in the pest control industry with a company called ARAB Pest Control for several years. When the Florida economy went through a recession, he decided to make the move to Houston in1978 to better provide for his young family.
The Lord opened the door for him to provide for his family by blessing him with successfully purchasing, growing and operating his own pest control company in the Houston area for the next 37 years! His company was called Alief Pest Control up until 2011 when he renamed the company to Bug Master Pest Control. He has had so many customers who have become his friends over the last nearly 4 decades. He has customers that have been with him for over 20 and 30 years. Gary became a part of their family not just the “bug guy”. He followed their families as they moved from house to house. He watched as so many of their children grew up and began having their own children. He was given the unique opportunity to actually provide pest control services to certain families that spanned 3 generations. One of Gary’s most favorite things to do in life was to visit his K9 friends from house to house every day. He had a whole separate world with these furry friends who always knew they would get a good back and belly rub with a hug and a yummy treat that was hidden in the cabinet every time he showed up.
Of course this just barely scratches the surface of this man we called Gary, husband, father, gampy, brother, uncle, friend, and Christian brother. You will be missed here but we know heaven has celebrated your arrival and your real adventure has just begun.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a contribution in his name be given to a very special ministry located in the land of Israel called “GOD.TV” (www.god.tv). Gary has always been a strong believer and supporter of several ministries around the world going forth and winning the souls of men through the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In carrying on with this tradition please consider donating/supporting GOD.TV which is the only Christian broadcasting ministry in the Holy Land.
