Barbara Pearline Hoskins

This is a celebration of the life of Barbara Pearline Hatch Hoskins. Barbara arrived on this earth on February 22, 1931. She was born to Zephyr McCann Hatch and Orville Lee Hatch in Dover, Oklahoma. Barbara was quick witted and had a sense of humor through good and bad times in her life. She graduated from Booker T. Washington School in 1949. She was blessed to complete her education and graduate from St. Rose School of Nursing in Great Bend, Kansas in 1953. Barbara was employed at the V.A. Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 1989. She then continued to work as a research Baylor Hospital doing AIDS research as well as volunteering at Bellaire High School in the nurses office. Barbara took her career as a nurse and caregiver very seriously and was known as a no nonsense type of supervisor. Barbara met her husband Charles Melvin Hoskins at a basketball game in Dover, OK while she was in high school. The two of them were married on June 2, 1951 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Barbara and Charles were married for 54 years and had two children Charles Haywood Hoskins and Lola Hoskins Craig. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, son and husband.Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughter, Lola Hoskins Craig and husband Donald Craig and their two children Leila and Zuri Craig (Aurora, IL), sister Julia Terrell (Oklahoma City, Ok), brother Frank Henry Hatch (Missouri City, Tx). Three grandchildren Charles Haywood Hoskins Jr., Natividad Marie Greely and Barbara Hoskins Eddleman and four great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and her loving St. Albert Church family.Because Barbara died physically on April 16, 2018 we will never again see her in the flesh. But because she was and is a Child of God, she will never die spiritually, for we will always feel her presence in our hearts. So those of us who knew and still love Barbara we celebrate her life today. Death has not been victorious because after a very short sleep, Barbara has already awakened to eternal life.
