On Tuesday morning, November 7th, 2023, Andrea Perrin passed away at the hospital after complications from heart disease and was welcomed home by her heavenly Father. Andrea lived a life of faith and trusted in God to heal and save her from the challenges of this world. She was truly a remarkable woman who saw the good in everyone and everything. All who know her were touched by her love and felt the joy that she had for each individually with a relationship that she held dear to her heart. Her beauty, never fading - inside and out, was visible and admired by all.
Andrea Diane Perrin was born on April 27, 1946 in Houston, Texas. She was the third child and only daughter to her parents, Albert and Mary Ellen Adam, with two older brothers and one younger. Her parents fondly referred to her as their little buttercup and “Andy-dandelion” due to her sweet wispy blond hair. Andrea was definitely daddy’s girl and always looked forward to spending summers with him in the Rio Grande Valley after her parents divorced. Her mother remarried and she became part of a larger family with the birth of her younger brother and a sister.
Andrea graduated from Westbury High School and left home to attend college at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and met her first husband, David Long. Andrea enjoyed a teaching career that spanned over 30 years, which began in Lockhart, Texas and continued in Atlanta, Georgia where they relocated briefly. They moved again to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she pursued a career in the car business, along the familiar paths of her stepfather and each of her brothers. Andrea was the first woman to sell cars at Leson Chevrolet, receiving Top Sales awards, up until the birth of her first son in 1979. In 1982, the couple moved back to Texas and her second son was born in San Antonio. Andrea enjoyed raising her sons, John and Nick, while also working as a car saleswoman for an area Cadillac dealership until the marriage ended in divorce. Andrea & her sons moved to Sugar Land, where she resumed her teaching career and enjoyed living closer to her mother and family. Andrea raised her sons with the discipline of love and helped to guide them through her faith in God and love of family. She lived by the teachings of the Bible, especially; “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God”(ESV Matt.5:9).
Andrea taught in Fort Bend County for approximately twelve years and enjoyed church attendance at First United Methodist Church, becoming involved with numerous church activities. After just a few years, her school principal introduced her to Fred Perrin, who she married on March 9, 1997. In 2000, Andrea and Fred relocated to the Dallas area and settled in Corinth, Texas where she taught up until her retirement from Denton ISD in 2011. She was always loved by students, teachers, and faculty and enjoyed making an impact through her teaching, but mostly through her loving and caring method of embracing all whom she came in contact. She even became pen-pals with one of her earliest students, continuing for over 30 years of correspondence. She loved helping to prepare her students and accompanied many to UIL competitions. Andrea also became very active with the Unity Church and maintained many female friendships while attending Women’s Retreats and participating in A Walk to Emmaus weekend. While in Corinth, Andrea also pursued her love of singing and took private vocal training while joining a women’s choir group. In 2017, Andrea & Fred returned to Sugar Land to live in the home they shared 20 years prior. Andrea joined a singing group in the Sugar Land area, with whom she trained and competed in area a cappella singing competitions and developed new friendships.
Andrea treasured her life with Fred and took exceptional care as a wife and homemaker, with each home that they lived in. She loved to travel with him and camp in numerous State and National Parks and treasured each of their shared memories of eleven grandchildren’s births, birthdays, and various holidays with each of their children, siblings, and extended families. Andrea found her soulmate in Fred and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 26 years, creating a lasting love. She was truly blessed by his tender care and loving support through all the days of their marriage, as Fred was a constant confidante and companion who cared for her deeply and protected and nurtured every aspect of her being.
Andrea’s loved ones who have passed before her include her father Al Adam, mother Mary Ellen Spencer, brother Lewis Adam, and stepson Keith Perrin.
Andrea is survived by her husband, Fred Perrin; son, John Long and his children, Emma Luna, Oren, and Even; son Nick Long and spouse, Scotti and their children, Jacob, Claire, Brandon, and Alex; stepson Fred Perrin Jr., and spouse, Julie and their children Megan and Ryan; stepdaughter Amber McCoy and spouse, Matt and their children Colin and Blake; brother A.C. Adam and spouse, Sheila; sister-in-law Merita Adam, brother Eric Adam; brother Mark Baker and spouse, Jody; sister Lisa Baker; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
