Alfred W. Hanson

Alfred W. Hanson , 79, passed away peacefully on Sept 25, 2012 surrounded by family. He was born on Oct 19, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from St John University following a 2 year stint in the US Army. In 1961 while working for Esso (Exxon) Oil Co, he was transferred to Houston where he retired in 1992 with over 40 years of service. In his retired life, he enjoyed many family vacations at the beach, crystal hunting in AR and traveling with his wife. For the past 14 years, he loved volunteering at SW Memorial Hosp as a "Blue Coat". He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Willard and Emily Duffy Hanson and his sister, Evelyn Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Joan of 52 years and his 4 daughters: Diane Marek and husband Henry, Linda Goodman and husband David, Patricia Castillo and husband Hector and Janice Pearson and husband John. As well as his 8 grandchildren: Ethan, Jacob & Samantha Marek, Grant & Matthew Goodman, Carmen & Ana Castillo and Sarah Pearson and his sisters: Dorothy, Ruth and Carol Hanson. Visitation is Friday, Sept 28, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM with a rosary at 7:30 at Earthman Funeral Home Southwest, 12555 S. Kirkwood. A funeral mass will be held on Sat., Sept 29, at 11:00 AM at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Rd. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to St Francis de Sales building fund.
