Theresa Irene Hadlett, age 73, of Center Hill, Florida passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2022. Theresa was born June 11, 1949 to the late George Fissel and Mildred Sites Fissel at her Granny Sites’s house in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 1968 from Southern High School in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to her husband Harlan Hadlett, Theresa is survived by her children Gretchen Stares and husband Steven Stares, Gaelen Hadlett and wife Yadira Hadlett, and Tracy Hadlett; her grandchildren Owen Stares, Ilo Hadlett, and Ixchel Hadlett; Sister of Jake and Mary Ann Fissel, Sam and Pat Fissel, Kenneth and Terrie Fissel, Genny Paul, and Anthony Fissel; sister in-law of Margie Fissel; Step-sister of Daniel Kessinger and Micheal Kessinger. Predeceased by her daughter Heather Hadlett, Edward Fissel, Patricia Cummings, Belinda Hess, Philip Paul, and Edward Cummings.
She met her husband in Baltimore in April 1968 when she was 17 years old. They were married in September of 1969 in Glen Burnie, Maryland. They moved to Redondo Beach, California and later in 1973 to City Island, New York. Theresa raised her family in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York. She had her first daughter Heather in 1976, following that with her daughter Gretchen in 1980, and only son Gaelen in 1982, and her last daughter Tracy in 1985. In 1989, she moved with her family to St. Pete Beach, Florida. She enrolled her children at St. John Vianney Catholic School and volunteered there before getting a job at Burger King where she became an Assistant Manager. She later worked at Publix in Dolphin Village Plaza, where she knew everyone. She loved talking to the locals and tourists and giving out toys to children in line. In 2012, she moved with her husband to Center Hill, Florida where they raised cattle. She loved feeding cows and going for golf cart rides through the fields.
She loved her cats, cows, returning to Baltimore, Maryland and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for family reunions, and watching game shows, her favorite being Wheel of Fortune. She was a member of the Tampa Bay Soaring Society where her husband flew a sailplane while she chatted up other members. In her final years she was a resident of the Cypress Care Center in Wildwood, Fl.
A visitation for Theresa will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706. A funeral mass is being held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. John Vianney, 445 82nd Ave, St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706. A reception will follow the service, Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 301 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, FL, 33706.
