Mary was born in Aspinwall, PA to Bruno and Bernadine Reitano. She learned her business prowess from working in the family’s grocery corner store in PA. Mary, relocated to Baltimore, MD where she owned and operated a successful restaurant and bar. While in Maryland she met and married her late husband, Domonick Falkenstein. They had three children, Bruno, Domonick and Mary Jo. Upon her husband, Domonick’s early passing in 1961 Mary was left a widower with three young children and a business to run. She owned and operated the Keystone Restaurant and Bar until in 1976 when she sold and moved to Pass-A-Grille making it her permanent residence.
In Pass-A-Grille Mary joined her sisters Josephine and Elizabeth. Mary then began the full time role of managing The Keystone Hotel. In 1977, Mary purchased the property that she developed into the restaurant, The Hurricane where her crab cake recipe is still a best seller.
Mary was a caring, sincere, hardworking, entrepreneurial, inspiration and Matriarch. She greatly enjoyed developing long lasting friendships with guests who visited her at the Keystone Hotel along with those in the Pass-A-Grille community. Mary lived her life as a devout Catholic and enjoyed praying the rosary along with the novena for special intentions.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Bruno, her mother, Bernadine, sisters, Josephine and Elizabeth. Domonick, Mary’s husband also preceded her along with her granddaughter, Christy Fedor. Mary is survived by her three children, Bruno, Domonick “Rick” and Mary Jo. Five grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, Domonick, Isabella and Gianna, and extended family members.
