Deloris J Strait

Deloris June (Taylor) Farley, Dill, Strait (90) born November 27, 1928 in Bedford, Indiana. Father; Denver Taylor. Mother; Gladys (Nicholson) Taylor. She will be laid to final rest with her husband of 38 years (Russell Clark Dill) at FLORIDA NATIONAL CEMETERY, in Bushnell, Florida on 24 APRIL 2019. Services will be held at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Avenue St Pete Beach at 10:30 AM, followed by a procession to the Cemetery.

Born in Bedford, Indiana, raised in Indianapolis and Glendale, CA; she was a lifetime LA Dodgers Fan, an avid Indianapolis Colts Fan and IU Basketball enthusiast . She “Loved” Bobby Knight! She traveled extensively from Indy & LA in her teens and early adulthood settling in Indianapolis after marrying Robert Farley. She attended Lyndhurst Baptist Church & Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis. She married Russell C. Dill November 19, 1967, worked at Crown Paper Box Co. in Indianapolis from 1961 until she retired in 1993 and moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1995. She was the epitome of Midwest values and West Coast idealism with an accent on Southern Hospitality. She loved the Giant Redwoods in Sequoia. Some of her favorite photos from that era (her steaming hot cup of coffee, plaid slacks and checkered kids). The church, her family & friends gave her solace and serenity, enriching her life and empowering her. Knowing her was to enjoy her smile. That said it all.

The Matriarch of a large, loving and extended family, Deloris was Mother, Step-Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. She passed peacefully, December 13th, 2018 in the presence of her son in St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Russell C. Dill, his son Randy Dill and her eldest son Robert Denver Farley. She is survived by her Brother, Denver Carl (Norene) Taylor & his children Ronald and Lori Taylor. Son, Emanuel Dean (Paula) Farley & his children Zachary Dean (Rian) Farley & Christopher Doyle (Erin) Farley. Daughter, Tina (Elwood) McAllister their children Evie (Mark) Pratt, Eli (Liz) McAllister and Sarah (Jesse) Dasher, Daughter-in-law, Joyce Farley and her children Sharon (Dana) Zollman, Jonathan (Katie) & Angie Farley Squire. Russell & Deloris’ Granddaughter, Stephanie (Mike) Bloomberg: Mother Mary (John) McCarthy, Step-son Cary (Patty) Dill and his children Kim Hunt, Thomas & Dustin Dill. Step-daughter Julie (Kurt) Richmond their child Connor. Step-son Greg (Kristy) Dill, son Andy & Kyle and Kristina; She also has several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Of her many cherished friends her “bestest” friend in life was Betty Huddleston along with her children Rick, Vicky, Shelly, Kelly & Nancy.
